Below are some of the views of the Pescadores Islands. Named 'Peng-Hu' in Chinese with the meaning
'peaceful lake', this string of islands is also known to the world as the Pescadores Archipelago, or the Fishermen's
Islands, located between Taiwan and the Mainland China. When the Ming Dynasty was coming to an end, one of its great generals, Cheng-Gong Zheng, retreated to Taiwan with an ambition to recover the Mainland China.
He died before his plan could be carried out. Penghu, the collection of islands with their surrounding waters, actually protects Taiwan as a shield, as beautiful as it is.

[Photographer: Jinmei Chen 攝影者: 陳金美]This Double-Hearted fishtrap constructed of coral stones is the landmark of the Seven-Beauties
Island, one of the islands of the Pescadores Archipelago. Chinese as a language is pictographic, and there is no surprising that the people will read
meanings into a huge coral-stone fishtrap in the shape of two connected hearts. Lovers and young couples will pose before them with prayers in mind.
This picture is used as the front cover for one of several books authored by island native Jinmei Chen.
